Penticton ends pursuit of provincial jail.
By a vote of 5-1 Penticton Council has withdrawn its application for the city to become home to a provincial jail. Mayor Dan Ashton says in addition the council has decided it would support any other application which would have the greatest economic impact on the city. In the South Okanagan the District of Summerland along with the Osoyoos and Penticton Indian Bands are still in the running. The Village of Lumby in the North Okanagan also remains in the bidding.
