Aquarius : Before you get creative, get the foundations in place as the week gets going. Do you have the support of peers and the higher-ups? Are resources in place? How'll you move your schedule or budget around? This kind of thinking and planning puts you where you want to be -- in position to act on new info you uncover or a great lead that comes your way around Thursday or Friday. Hint: What you need may come from an unexpected source. And if you're working this weekend, know your audience and tailor any messaging accordingly. Even a quick email deserves the appropriate tone.
Pisces : Being a giver used to be seen as a liability in business, but those in the know now realize that when you give, the reciprocity principle kicks in -- like it can for you as the week begins. Meet others' needs and then some and your work karma takes care of itself. Of course, knowing when to call in a favor or just tap someone you've been a resource for is part of the give-and-take -- and that's the part that's key on Thursday and Friday. And this weekend, be clear about roles and boundaries, both on the clock and off.
Aries : It's more about paying your dues than getting paid as the week begins. Build your knowledge base; lay foundations for the future; and be willing to take one for your boss or the team. No, these aren't the most challenging and inspiring aspects of work, but the cosmic energy shifts in a more proactive direction on Thursday and Friday. You can really work your interpersonal charm now and a professional organization offers networking opportunities -- but only if you attend the events and play an active role. This weekend, it's your personal life that deserves attention.
Taurus : It's all about the people right now. Don't chain yourself to the desk as the week gets under way. Pop up and get face time, asking smart questions at the right moments -- then follow up. On Thursday and Friday, give any and all off-site and work-related events the old college try. Arrive early, introduce yourself to new people instead of talking to known quantities and work the room. Networking works brilliantly for you at this juncture. This weekend, you may have immediate, strong reactions, but you're smart enough not to show it in a work context.

Chinese Yuan-Denominated Contracts an Exercise in Active Listening ...
This week, CME Group announced the launch of two new Chinese Yuan (CNY)-denominated futures contracts . Offshore CNY trading has become increasingly prevalent in various forms, and our customers have expressed interest in having contracts such as these in their risk-management toolkits.
While customer demand was the primary driving force behind these new products, the back story is what was behind that demand: the ongoing discussion from the Chinese government to further open the Chinese markets.
Following the liberalisation of renminbi (RMB) exchange restrictions last year, we saw RMB-denominated deposits quadruple to 315 billion RMB (or US$47.91 billion) from their 2009 levels. And between July and December 2010, trade settlement in RMB grew from 10 billion RMB in July 2010 to 101 billion RMB in December. Moreover, the estimated liquidity in offshore RMB markets is estimated to reach the equivalent of US$700 billion by 2015.
Some of this activity has been stimulated by the advent of innovative RMB-denominated “dim-sum” bonds and IPOs in Hong Kong, designed by overseas companies to signal their openness to trade with China as the authorities move toward internationalizing their economy – and to prepare for on-shore issuance when that becomes possible.
All this anticipation of China’s measured approach to full convertibility of the RMB reflects a widespread and growing sense of that country’s move toward a leading position in the global economy . China overtook Japan this year as the world’s second-largest economy, in terms of GDP, and is expected to surpass the U.S. economy in as little as 10 years’ time. HSBC predicts that the RMB is on the way to becoming the third major reserve currency.
With this in mind, CME Group (which lists the world’s first and only RMB-denominated futures contract) has listened to customers who anticipate demand for RMB risk-management and investment products and we responded by increasing the available choices. We believe that, as the world’s largest regulated FX platform – with the attractions of liquidity and transparency, as well as the added security of central-counterparty clearing – we offer the kind of market that will support the Chinese authorities’ careful moves toward RMB convertibility.
Does this mean that we have plans for further CNY or RMB-denominated products in future? CME Group dedicates a significant effort to research and product development and we always listen to our customers to gauge their needs as their businesses evolve . As the global focus of trade, finance and economic activity swings ever more eastward, we will certainly continue to assess the need for products that reflect this change.
